Cut Out Animation, Norman McLaren and e-cards

It was so wonderful meeting with all the librarians who attended LAM's Stop Motion Animation workshop and working in Stop Motion Studio together. I was happy to see all your animations successfully published on the blog.

One of the next methods, I want to introduce you to (or remind you of) is from Norman McClaren, specifically his cut out animation technique. 

The McLaren app allows you to perform the entire animation process digitally. I prefer performing the technique manually and taking photos using Stop Motion Studio, BUT, it's cool to learn his techniques within the app.

The McLaren app is a wonderful app that you should check out. It's free for the cut-out portion.  It is also already downloaded on the library iPads if you check one out.

If you decided to host a LAM Stop Motion Animation series, one of the workshops would include this technique. The workshop is How to Make a Homemade E-Card. This could be done around a holiday or simply as a birthday card making workshop.
